  5. REALbasic is an implementation of the BASIC language on the Macintosh
  6. which is tightly coupled with a set of visual components.
  7.  
  8. The primary features of REALbasic are:
  9. •  Object-oriented implementation of the BASIC language with automatic garbage collection;
  10. •  High level support for GUI elements;
  11. •  Fully integrated visual development/debugging environment;
  12. •  Advanced dynamically recompiling compiler - giving all of the benefits of an interpreter, 
  13. while still running at fully compiled speed;
  14. •  Development is supported on both 68k and PowerPC Macintoshes, running native on both 
  15. platforms;
  16. •  Build standalone applications for 68k and Power Macintoshes (including Fat applications), 
  17. as well as building 100% Java Applets.
  18. • Supports Hypercard's XCMD's and XFCN's
  19. • Supports AppleScript
  20. • Sprite engine for picture animation
  21. • >32K styled text edit fields
  22. • Hierarchical multi-column list boxes

  32. While REALbasic used to be distributed as shareware (when it was CrossBasic), REALbasic should now be considered as a public beta. Shareware registrations will no longer be accepted by Kagi.
